Abandon Normal Devices, a festival of eclectic and experimental art, digital media and cinema, has launched in Manchester. In Master/Slave Invigilator System, new media artist Jeremy Bailey demonstrates technology that “allows him to physically be everywhere at once” from a “protected control cockpit” at the Cornerhouse gallery.

Abandon Normal Devices (AND) is a catalyst for new approaches to art-making through digital invention. It invite artists to hijack the imagination through abandoning traditional settings and developing unorthodox partnerships so we can actively redefine the way that art projects, events and festivals are experienced. Founded in 2009 AND has commissioned over 80 works from artists like Rafael Rozendaal, Carolee Schneeman, Julian Oliver, Eva and Franco Mattes, Brody Condon, Mammalian Diving Reflex, Heath Bunting, UBERMORGEN.COM, Phil Collins, Rafael Lozano Hemmer, The Yes Men and Jamie King.
