gifSlap is a very nice software tool for producing live visuals using gifs. It is used by VJs, artists and performers. Most VJ software focuses on compositing video clips with blending layers, while gifSlap focuses on generating geometric patterns where each point in the shape is a gif. It can be controlled using the onscreen control deck, and every control can also be mapped to a physical MIDI controller.
